Technical Product Consultant 

The Technical Product Consultant role combines aspects of customer support, service, and engineering to help Watermark’s Faculty Success clients achieve their goals. The primary responsibility of the Technical Consultant is to coordinate with the Client Services team to ensure successful implementation of Watermark’s Faculty Success product, by solving complex technical problems and designing ideal client configurations. The Technical Consultant also collaborates with Client Support and Success teams to provide post-implementation technical support and guidance to ensure continued customer success and retention.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Complete Faculty Success (FS) work requests for clients using basic programming skills.

  • Serve as the primary technical contact for FS implementations and other client projects.

  • Consult with clients on how to achieve their goals while considering best practices for database design, reporting and data management.

  • Lead data migration projects, including parsing, mapping and converting data files.

  • Collaborate with internal team members to ensure client projects are accurately scoped and planned.

  • Participate in prioritized projects as assigned.

  • Reviews client instruments and provides guidance for improvement (tune-ups/technical reviews).

  • Serve as a FS technical escalation point for internal WM teams.

  • Possess an understanding of higher education, how our clients function, and demonstrate in-depth understanding of the FS functionality of our solutions.

  • Ability to identify, recommend and implement improvements to processes, tools, and the client experience.

  • Serve as the voice of the client and promotes technical enhancements to WM products.

  • Train client-facing team members on FS technical features and capabilities.

  • Recognize reusable procedures, templates, documents, models, etc. for broader “best practice” use.

  • Perform extensive research as needed to resolve complex customer inquiries.

  • Proactively seek out work and projects.

  • Readjust to shifting priorities based on client and company needs.

Required Skills and Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree, preferably with an emphasis in a technical discipline

  • One or more years of prior experience using a programming language

  • Familiarity with database design concepts desirable (e.g., primary keys, foreign keys, normalization)

  • Familiarity with XML and XPATH desirable

  • A high level of competence in communication, critical thinking and reasoning, and computer skills

  • A client service mentality and ability to keep client needs at the forefront of decision making

  • Exceptional multi-tasker with the ability to juggle many responsibilities at once

  • Quick learner who absorbs knowledge to understand our software’s capabilities

  • Organized, detail-oriented and self-starting

  • Strong work ethic with desire to grow your professional skill set

What We Offer: Salary Range: Generally starting at $50,000-$60,000. The posted salary range describes the minimum to maximum range for this job description in the state of Colorado. The salary range is posted in accordance with the Colorado Equal Pay For Equal Work Act. The range for this same position may be lower or higher in markets outside of Colorado and is dependent on experience, education, and licensure(s).
